Because of your help, large cuts proposed by the House have been partly rolled back. Instead of an 8% cut in state funds our library would see a 1% increase over the next two years.
While it looks like we have avoided a devastating cut, the fight isn't over for Ohio libraries!
Here's What's Happening
➡️ The proposed State House budget changes the formula for how libraries are funded, altering a system that has worked well for nearly 40 years.
➡️ It removes IMPORTANT safeguards protecting future funding stability.
Why does this matter? Stable funding ensures we can continue providing the books, programs, tutoring, outreach and other resources YOU rely on right here in Salem! 📚💻
What are we doing? We're actively working with the State Senate through May to protect the current Public Library Fund structure.
